Leisure and Culture Dundee Sport Awards
Sports Person of the year
24 year old Dundonian figure skater Natasha MacKay has won the Leisure and Culture Dundee Sportsperson of the year.
It has been a great season for Natasha so far. She won her fourth consecutive British Ladies Championship title, scoring a seasons best and smashing the British record. Natasha is not only successful on the national stage but is climbing up the international rankings. She won three international medals at her recent events – gold at the international Tayside Trophy, silver in Bulgaria and bronze in Croatia. Natasha is on the road to the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics and has gotten a boost by being accepted into the Sportscotland High Performance Programme. After having competed at the European Championships last month she has one more competition in the Netherlands before heading off to Canada to represent Great Britain at the World Figure Skating Championships.
Natasha commented: “I am over the moon having won the Leisure and Culture Dundee Sportsperson of the year. It is great seeing my hard work paying of and getting recognition for all my achievements in the sport. I am very excited to travel to Montreal, Canada next month, to represent Great Britain at the World Championships for the fourth time.”
Young Sports person of the year
Jasmine Cressey was nominated in the category Young Sports Person of the year.
Club of the year
Dundee Ice Skating club has won the Tele Club of the Year award. All our Ice Dundee skaters are also member of the club and Danielle was asked to accept the trophy.
